I think it is very funny how serious people take titles. I'm not big on titles, I only go for titles that give benefits, Lightbringer helps me kill demons and margs in the RoT. The gwen titles are useful for farming in the title areas, azura title, azura area and so on. But its nothing to be taken serious. I don't understand why people are so addicted to titles.
It takes no skill to get titles, just time. With enough time I could get every single title, But those titles would not help me win pvp or defeat pve campaigns or get more gold or better drops.
When Anet gives us a Gold farm title track I will jump on the band wagon and grind til I get the title because I could always use extra gold but until then Titles are nothing more than mini- pets. They might look spiffy but they are useless.
Gold Farm title track.
r1. +25 gold per drop
r2. +50 gold per drop
r3. +75 gold per drop
r4. +100 gold per drop
r5. +200 gold per drop
That is a title I would love to have, I could see getting it by obtaining gold from drops, being given gold by a player would not count.
so lets say
r1 requires 5,000 gold aquired (from drops)
r2 req 10,000
r3 req 15,000
r4 req 20,000
r5 req 50,000
its just a passing idea, thought id share cause Im bored. dont take it seriously, I'm not.
PS: Thanks for the guide. it made me realise how happy I am that I am not going to get the zkey title. not even r1. no desire to get it at all.
I think the zkey title should have a benefit though. Like the higher the title the better the ratio for good drops from the zchest. But again just a passing thought.

Nice post, i think the title itself is very weak, the emote is so bad and the title itself commands 0 respect so it seems like a poor choice for anyone wanting to blow $11250/£5625 on.
Its a shame they couldnt make the title more achievable (more like the luxon and kurzick title) but remove the buying aspect of it so people can max it by earning balthazar faction and reward points rather than just buying keys.
I don't think any high end pvp player will go for this title, a lot of people i know that do farm reward points and faction from GvG just sell the gold they make from keys, £5625 is a lot of cash in any country, you can buy a decent car with that in the UK, i cant imagine what it would be worth in eastern europe or southern America, hell you could probably even buy a house in north America for that kinda money since the economy is in a mess.

Why does everyone think this is a bad title? It's a new emote that can be bought, which seems perfect to me. PvPers (myself included) can make loads of gold and PvErs have a chance at an emote. I'm really surprised that people still bring in the respect issue with titles. This is just another time sink title but it may bring a few more people into PvP.

I'm pretty damn sure that whoever wins mAT, will exchange their rewards for irl-money. As it seems to me, those so-called top-gvgrs don't give a shit about pve money and will probably sell their gold they get from keys. Most of them don't bother to open the chest anyway because they simply don't care.
|
If they sold the keys then who cares if they sell the gold from those keys, the keys were still sold, they're still in the market, still used.

Guess I never max this title. With just PvP (Mainly HA) I got 2.600 points. Soon I'll get r5. I don't like selling stuf, I'll just have the fun of opening the chest and pray for something nice.

the main reason ppl hate this title is because of the huge amount of cash required to max it, and belive it or not ppl do want to max this title. On the other hand its a new way to spend money when we really do need new ways. Another reason ppl hate is how its acquired, now if its how many balth points you acquire then it will be the perfect title.

Thanks to the OP for the well written analysis, interesting read.
I'm largely indifferent but the emote is pretty lame compared to Hero imo which looks pretty cool all the way through the ranks.Maybe seeing a r12 will change my mind.
Yay for more grind though!!

I wouldn't go as far as saying you could buy a house cheapest I've seen is roughly 3 times that amount but spending it on a game would be insane unless your someone like bill gates or the osbourne kids.

As far as PVE goes, the moment they added grind titles they abandoned the "SKill>Time". I'm not touching the PVP side of "Skill>Time".

Though your analysis is quite well thought out, I think of it this way. Like my Gladiator rank, I got to rank 3, put it in the HoM, I'm done. I'm picturing of doing the same thing with my zaishen rank eventually. I'm not sure about you, I'm no top rank player, but I made 250,000 balthazar faction relatively quickly just from doing alliance battles. I don't HA, at all, rarely GvG, mostly just AB now. I quit the RA last year because I got to rank 3 for the HoM and quit. I have roughly almost 1.9m faction earned. I got rank 1 simply from AB balthazar faction over the course of 3-4 days. Roughly, if I really tried. I could finish off and get rank 3 by the end of a month and get that HoM title, and what point would it be to move on? I've sold all the keys I've gotten now. There's just no point to them. Eventually I'll get to rank 3, but for now, I'd rather buy q9 weapons and FoW for all my characters. It's better than a lol'able emote.
"Pwned. /zrank"
"Nice, you bought a title."
That's about all it amounts to, now.

I personnaly agree with this, though one problem is... Zkeys would be harder to obtain, obviously. If they did so, maybe they could lower the requirement for each tier of the title (Not a lot of people are going to obtain a high rank without buying a single zkey).

Your countings have one minor flaw. There is currently almost 200k of reward points given out every mAT. This is not counting balthasar factions, TRP from dAT's and predictions.

Zkeys should have been customized, as you earn them pvping.
The rest is pure literature.

They haven't failed with zkeys. Or well, I need to rephrase it: They havent failed in the way you claim they did. There is no point making them customized. You are just jealous that people who manage to be good in this game, manage to get decent reward from it.
